Several times a year the Vancouver Art Gallery throws an amazing party called FUSE combining art with music and performance for an adults only evening.
Andrew and I had attended a FUSE event once during the winter, but were waiting to attend another one in the summer because that’s when the Art Gallery extends the party to the outdoor patio, where beer and wine can be enjoyed on a beautiful summer night in the city.
This last extremely mind-boggling colorful picture is my favorite room currently at the Art Gallery. It’s apart of the Grand Hotel exhibit— an exhibit all about examining the artistic, social and cultural roles hotels have played in our daily lives. Whereas hotels used to simply be a means of necessity, over the centuries they have now come to represent symbols of status or economic class, architectural masterpieces, cultural havens and rustic experiences. The exhibit is perfect for the history buff/art aficionado… but if you’re a bigger fan of classic art, then maybe give this one a miss.
The next FUSE is November 29th.
Holly (blogger and creator of Helloo Sailor) and I were pleased to attend the Miz Mooz 2013 Spring Collection and The Style Common Party at the Miz Mooz boutique located on West 4th. Yes, Vancouverites, despite the never ending construction along west 4th, the store is still open! And man oh man is it shoe heaven?!
Bright colors and pastels are in! And I love them all…
Holly, Jess (Brand Manager or Miz Mooz) and I– apparently we all got the memo to color coordinate our outfits!
(ladies of The Style Common left to right: Jen, Jennifer, Alexandra, and Alicia)
It was a delight to meet the ladies of the local style blogger power group called The Style Common in person (if you haven’t checked them out, you need to asap) and catch up with an old friend Jess, who is now the brand manager for Miz Mooz (way to go Jess!)
As Holly and I swooned over shoes, the girls entertained with a cute candy bar and door prizes to everyones delight. It was a fun evening that left me lusting for shoes!
Might have to go back to buy some… I’ve been looking lately for some cute flats to wear on my wedding day or off-beat wedding shoes, as Joanna from the blog A Cup Of Jo calls them. Like cute yellow flats or funky sandals…
What shoes are you most excited about buying this spring?
Holly and I got to meet the lovely and very approachable Leandra Medine, the blogger behind the New York based blog The ManRepeller at the Secret Location in Gastown last week. After waiting in line to meet her, I couldn’t believe how conversational and lovely she was. It’s always weird meeting a blogger you’ve followed for awhile… it’s like meeting a pseudo-celebrity. Although most people might not recognize her on the street, I somehow know what her latest thoughts are on dating, I know what she wore to her wedding and I know what fashion trend she loves right now.
What do you say to someone like that? I thought it might be awkward shaking her hand and saying hi, but her casual approach made the awkward moment dissappear. It felt like we just met at a bar through a friend of a friend of a friend and were hitting it off. She leaned over at one point and joked, let’s be honest we’re here for the free wine… A fellow blogger after my own heart.
It was also my first time to the Secret Location. The concept store is a one stop shop for art, design, craftsmanship, fashion and great tasting tapas all in one. It celebrates the finer things in life while getting quirky, creative and at some points … weird. I have to say after 3 glasses of wine… it all seemed pretty cool to me.
I never thought myself a Chanel girl, but this Vintage Chanel was gorgeous!
Holly I think was always a Chanel girl… and she is loving it! Even got to pose with this vintage gold clutch
I feel like if I lived in New York, this is what my friends would look like.
Thanks to Holly, Leandra and everyone at The Secret Location for such a fun night!
I wouldn’t call myself a Tiffany’s girl… but I love the recent ad campaign by Tiffany & Co. They collaborated with blogger and photographer Scott Schuman (The Sartorialist) and Garance Doré to collect photos that encompass true love.
Here’s some of my favorites, but to see all the pics click here.
