3 tips for perfect engagement photos!

I couldn’t wait to share more of our beautiful engagement photos with you all! I’ve noticed most couples choose to take their engagement photos in the summer, but I am so happy we took them in the fall. The rich colors and cozy clothing just make me feel warm and fuzzy inside… plus fall is my favorite season.

Looking back on our photos, I think there were a few things that made for the perfect photo shoot– and as a result, we got our perfect photos!

1. Our photographer made us laugh. It’s kind of awkward posing for hours for someone you hardly know. It helped we knew our photographer, Richelle, through a friend (and had actually partied pretty hard with her and her husband once)…so it made a huge difference that while we were shooting she was able to say things to make us laugh. She also asked us about our day and genuinely got to know us. In the end, it allowed us to relax and put on our best smiles.

2. Casual dressy-ness is best! Wear clothing that you would wear out on a date night. No need to dress like you’re about to go to a gala… save that for your wedding day. You want to look like you! For the full story on how we chose our outfits click here.

3. Have a back-up plan! We actually scheduled two photo shoots with our photographer, just in case the weather was awful for one of them. And thank goodness we did. During our first planned shoot, it rained so hard that we had to cancel. Luckily the next day was perfect weather! But we were ready and prepared with coats and an umbrella just in case.

Thank you again to our lovely photographer, Richelle Akimow!

The photos turned out even better than I could have hoped!

I hope everyone has an amazing (American) Thanksgiving tomorrow! I am in Virginia with my little sister– bring on the turkey!
